Irish-based Avia Solutions Group, the world’s largest ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) provider, has appointed Tom Klein as Executive Vice-Chairman of the Board, a newly created role, effective immediately.
Klein will continue in his position as Senior Managing Director at US-based Certares Management, a private equity investment firm that invested in the Group in 2021.
He brings extensive knowledge of the global aviation, travel, tourism, and technology sectors to the Group. His primary responsibilities will include leading investor relations and advising on broader business development, while his geographic location will enhance executive presence and allow for a greater focus on activities in the Americas.
This appointment comes at a significant growth phase for Avia Solutions Group, which reported first-half revenues for 2024 of €1.2 billion, marking a 29% year-on-year increase, along with a 34% growth in EBITDA to €179 million.
The Group has ongoing plans to expand its global presence and enhance its capacity solutions, particularly during peak seasons, for airlines worldwide.
Gediminas Ziemelis, Chairman of Avia Solutions Group, stated:
“With his extensive experience in global aviation and travel sectors, coupled with a proven track record in investor relations, Tom is a valuable addition to our senior leadership team. I look forward to working closely with him as we execute our long-term growth strategy.”
Tom Klein, Executive Vice-Chairman of Avia Solutions Group, remarked:
“I am honored to be appointed as Executive Vice-Chairman. The demand for the Group’s services is growing significantly, and I look forward to playing a key role in expanding our global customer base.”
Before joining Certares in 2018, Klein was the CEO and President of Sabre, a global technology company serving the travel industry, where he led the successful IPO in 2014. He also served for seven years as a founding board member of Brand USA, culminating his tenure as Chairman.
Klein has held multiple board positions and previously worked in management roles at American Airlines and Consolidated Freightways.
Avia Solutions Group currently operates a fleet of 214 aircraft, comprising 174 passenger aircraft and 40 freighters.
